As an undergraduate or a graduate student, you may petition for a medical withdrawal due to a serious medical circumstance that prohibits continued enrollment in all courses for the term.
Your mental and physical well-being is very important. If you are experiencing a serious medical situation during a term in progress:
- Seek medical assistance immediately.
- Consider discontinuing class attendance and participation (online and in-person).
- Inform your advisor/program coordinator in your school/college about any situation prohibiting continued enrollment.
For the purpose of a medical withdrawal, a mental health circumstance is medical situation that is held to the same standards as a physical health condition and requires input from a licensed medical professional. Continuing to attend or participate in classes but having intentions to petition for a medical withdrawal will impact the outcome of the case.
To submit a petition for medical withdrawal and review policy details, see the Excused Withdrawal section.
